waxing aftercare

A great wax starts with how well you treat your skin at home. Prior to your appointment, it's important that your hair is long enough to be waxed. I encourage all clients to exfoliate 2 to 3 times a week, make sure you include this area in your moisturising routine too, just the top part not underneath.  This helps remove dead skin cells and prevent ingrown hairs on regrowth.

Please do not apply moisturiser on the area to be waxed on the day of your appointment.  This is counterproductive to the treatment as even with pre cleansers, moisturiser on the day is hard to remove and will most likely affect the outcome of your waxing treatment.  A moisturising post wax treatment will be applied after your wax has been carried out.

After your wax, the main things to remember are to keep the area clean and free from friction and heat.

Please avoid the following for the first 24 hours:

  • No saunas, hot tubs or steam treatments.

  • No hot baths or showers (warm water only)

  • No tanning (sunbathing, sunbeds or fake tans).

  • No sport, gym work or other exercise.

  • Avoid scratching or touching the treated area with unwashed hands.

  • Avoid swimming in chlorinated pools.

  • Do not apply deodorants, body sprays, powders, lotions or other products to the area.

It's also a good idea to put on clean clothing after you’ve been waxed.

Exfoliating should then be resumed after 2-3 days, and done out every few days with moisturiser applied after.

Please remember to chuck your exfoliating gloves in the washing machine whenever it is on, leaving them in the shower allows bacteria build up.

Ingrowing hairs occur when the hair cant break through the surface of the skin and becomes trapped, growing sideways. The best prevention for this is to exfoliate regularly, to slough off the dead surface skin cells and make it easier for the hairs to grow through. Exfoliating 3-4 times a week is optimal. Moisturising will also help soften the skin and assist in the reduction of this issue. Please ask me for my recommendations for skincare products.

If there is any area I haven't listed please drop me a WhatsApp and I'll sort it out for you!
